Week 12

Image
In todays lab we started off by discussing our homework. We then started talking about of matters chart and if we wanted to fix or change anything on that list. For our experiment we are looking at multiple objects on the table. We have to test if it will sink or float, will they have the same mass, will it conduct electricity, and will it be attracted to a magnet? We tested a bunch of random objects and found results that can be found below:   After our separate groups we came together as a class to reflect on the properties. Then we did activity about mystery metals .

Week 11

Plunger Push: When trying to pull up on the plunger it took a lot of force. When pushing the sides in, it was super easy to come up. When pulling up on the side it created an exit for the force instead of pulling up creating no exit for the suction. Melting Ice; Prediction: Ice would melt faster on metal than wood. I was correct. I think this because metal can hold energy while wood can not hold anything. Coke Float: I predict that the large cans would sink and the small cans float. The diet cokes float while normal doesn't.  Baking soda and vinegar: The mixture bubbles up and the bag starts to fill up with air. the mixture is colder then the original. The question I have is what chemical creates the bag to inflate  M&Ms in water:  The dye of the M and Ms are bleeding and running to the edge of the plate. the colors are not combining  Wet Soda:  The cold can has condensation while the warm one did not. That is kinda what I thought would happen
